While surfing the web on Vista earlier today I tried to play an embedded .wmv video, and got an error message saying no plug-in was detected, even though I had windows media player installed. Being somewhat impatient and lazy I moved on without trying to debug the problem. However while doing some random Digg reading I came across this solution…

“If you have Windows Vista and your running Firefox, you may have noticed that you cannot download the missing plug-in for embedded Windows Media. Microsoft doesn’t even offer the plug-in for Vista, however, you can download npdsplay.dll, npwmsdrm.dll, and npdrmv2.dll and manually place them into your “C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins” folder. Viola, problem solved.”
